Locker Service Terms and Conditions
The Howrah District Central Co-operative Bank Limited
- The Safe Deposit Vault is open on weekdays from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM and on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The Vault remains closed on Sundays and other holidays.
- Access to lockers is granted to the renter(s) jointly or individually as per written instructions. Agents may access lockers if duly authorized and recorded by the bank. Joint renter authorization can be revoked by any one renter.
- In the event of the death of a joint renter, survivors can access the locker as per prior instructions recorded with the bank. In the absence of instructions, the executor or administrator must provide legal documentation for access.
- Rent is payable in advance. Non-payment may result in denied access. Renters must maintain a savings account with cheque facilities at the bank for eligibility.
- Either party may terminate the agreement with seven days' prior written notice. The key must be returned upon termination.
- Failure to provide notice or return the key automatically renews the rental agreement without affecting the bank's accrued rights.
- Non-payment of rent or breach of conditions may result in the locker being forcibly opened, with contents managed at the renter's risk. Additional charges may apply.
- If a locker key is lost, the renter must notify the bank immediately. Charges for key replacement and lock changes will be borne by the renter.
- All locker maintenance work must be carried out by bank-appointed personnel.
- The renter has no ownership rights over the locker and may only use it for storing documents, jewelry, or valuables. Explosive or hazardous items are strictly prohibited.
- Notices sent to the renter's registered address will be deemed served. Renters must inform the bank of any address changes.
- During extraordinary contingencies, the bank may alter vault operating hours or temporarily close the vault without prior notice.
- Renters must keep locker keys safe, avoid sharing locker details, and restrict key access to authorized agents only.
- The relationship between the bank and renter is that of lessor and lessee, not banker and customer.
- All contents in the vault are subject to a general lien for unpaid rent or other charges, with the bank holding the right to sell contents to recover dues.
- The Safe Deposit Vault operates as a separate department, independent of the bank's other customer services.
- Renters agree to adhere to any rules and regulations implemented by the Safe Deposit Department.
